Statement of Faith

I believe and trust in the one triune God. I believe in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth and the life that fills them. Out of community,   generosity, and love God created, even making humanity in God’s own image. God alone is sovereign, holy perfect goodness, faithful, eternal, love and full of grace. God alone is worthy of our worship and lives.

I believe Jesus is the Christ, the Incarnation, God with us. Jesus as he lived, ministered, died and rose gave   witness to the faithfulness and love of God. It is only through Christ that we can be reconciled to God. Jesus dhows us the fullness of God and his sacrifice on the cross and his resurrection affirm that God chose to be with creation and not without us by his power and love.

I believe in the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit bears witness through scripture to the revelation of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit is God actively present in the world. The Holy Spirit justifies us by grace through faith.  The Holy Spirit claims us, sanctifies us, comforts us, empowers us, helps us to understand scripture while all the time moving us to a life of witness and service.

I believe in the Bible. Scripture is the unique and authoritative witness to Jesus Christ in the world.  In the Old and New Testaments we hear again and again of God’s longing for relationship with creation. With patience and grace, God continues to bear witness to God’s love and faithfulness to easily distracted and sinful people. I believe it is in the testimonies of the scripture that we are challenged and comforted by God’s ongoing revelation and testimony of faithfulness.

I believe that God created us in God’s image but that through our own misunderstanding of self, we broke that relationship and found ourselves outside of God’s intended world and life. It is by grace through faith that we are justified through Christ and reconciled to God. The Holy Spirit moves in us, we respond and then the Holy Spirit continues to build faith that we might understand and be transformed in Christ’s image.

I believe in the Church. I believe the Church is the body of Christ across time, gender, nations and history. I believe we as the body are called to worship, study, pray, forgive, teach, work, love, serve, bring hope and extend peace. We are not to live in isolation but are called to live as light and salt in the world. We have been blessed to be a blessing.

I believe that through the two sacraments instituted by Christ we are affirmed in our identity as the people of God. Through the signs we are sealed to the promise of the gospel. In the water of our Baptism we are made new and claimed as Christ’s own as we become members of the body. In the celebration of Communion we encounter the risen Christ through the Holy Spirit. We continue our fellowship with God and with each other. We celebrate God’s sacrificing love, we are strengthened for ministry and reminded of our hope.

I believe in the life everlasting. I believe we have an expectant faith of great hope. We long for the coming glory of God.

Because of all of this, I believe and I am assured that I have been called by name, forgiven, loved, gifted and out of thankfulness I strive to share God’s amazing grace and serve with God's love.
